Last week, our high school football players got some good practice in with a scrimmage against Zephyr right here in Cherokee. Our high school girls traveled to Belton to run in the cross country meet. We had three girls competing: Taylor Randolph, Tilar Turman, and Hannah Sims. Tilar Turman placed 4th over all. (See photo on Page 11!)
In academic news, Robert Sawyer, a current 11th grader at Cherokee High School, achieved a First Generation Recognition Award from the College Board National Recognition Program based on his outstanding performance on the PSAT exam last year. Robert's 10th grade PSAT score was in the top 10% of all test takers in Texas, and he maintains an A average in all his coursework while also participating in academic UIL events and competing as an athlete for Cherokee High School. Congratulations to Robert!
Homecoming is coming up on September 12th, and our floral design class is making mums and garters. Order forms went out last week. This is a great way to show school spirit while supporting our students! All orders are due by September 2nd.
There will be no school next Monday, September 1st; and on Tuesday, September 2nd, progress reports will be sent home. Be on the lookout for these as they are great communication tools for how well your student is mastering their classes.
