Physics of Flight offered at Science Mill Aug 30–Sep 1

The Science Mill is hosting workshops on The Physics of Flight from August 30 to September 1, where families are invited to learn about types of flight while constructing copters, aerofoils, and rockets. Sessions will be held at the following times: Sat 10am-4pm; Sun 12pm-4pm; Mon 10am - 4pm.

“Scientists have always been fascinated by flight and have spent centuries creating solutions for launching stones, jets, and even humans into the air,” said Lian Sing, Director of Marketing & Communications. “Whether you're a budding aviation enthusiast or simply curious about how planes soar through the sky, you’ll be able to step into the shoes of a physicist by exploring the forces of flight through fun, special activities.”

Future fliers will explore the forces of flight through activities such as quadcopter demonstrations, aerofoils, launching rockets, and more.

Ready, Aim, Blast Off!

Design and build a straw rocket, then launch it using the Pitsco Rocket Launcher, experimenting with different launch angles, and seeing how far or how high it can fly.

High-Pressure High-Fliers

Create a mini airfoil and explore how Bernoulli’s Principle helps wings generate lift.

Quadcopter Quest

Experiment with a custom-built quadcopter created by the Science Meal team. Explore the science of flight and the basics of electronics of how drones fly.

All activities are free with museum admission. Details and admission can be found online at www.sciencemill.org, by emailing info@sciencemill.org, by calling 844-263-6405.
