Cherokee ISD News

Another school year has begun here at Cherokee ISD! We have enjoyed our first full week, and are looking forward to many more days to come.

This year, we are welcoming several new staff members. Ralene Gideon is teaching high school math. Catherine Whitely is teaching Ag Science. Pricila Vega is a paraprofessional. Jeremy Martin is teaching junior high social studies and coaching. Julie Oestreich will be serving in the area of special education. Natasia Peterson is teaching junior high English. We are happy to have these new staff members. Help us welcome them if you see them!

This Thursday will be picture day, so dress in your best! We will also have a high school football scrimmage in Rising Star at 6 p.m. on Friday. Go out and cheer on our Indians! In July, our cheerleaders went to San Angelo for camp and put in some work to better lead you in school spirit. Go out and cheer on our Indians!

We are rolling out some new things in elementary to teach responsibility, budgeting, and managing behavior. Ask your students about their new “Indian bucks debit card.” The kids are ecstatic over this new system!

As always, we want to remind you how much we love your children and want to help them be successful. This works best when the school and parents are partners. Please use the first few weeks of the school year to touch base with teachers and begin to establish that relationship. We are dedicated to making this year a great one!
