Hello there, beautiful San Saba friends. Mom and I understand that for some of you severely affected by the flood, the big foot of bureaucracy has crushed your hopes. But take heart; people who love and care about you are trying their best for you. I have to be honest, when I first heard, I looked up at mom and said… “no wonder you hated law so much! You must have felt like you were wearing your heart backwards!”
I am so excited about something!! Mandy and Drew Finch came over and put together a wonderful fenced-in area for me right out of the laundry room door! I even have a grass area where I can lie out in the sun which dachshunds absolutely love to do! Mom really had planned to build it herself, but her back just about has her crippled now. It is a sad and strange thing to watch age tear her to shreds. She is still the goofy person she always has been…laughs so much, but I see in her eyes how much she misses the freedom of being able to live life as she wants to. Time may steal her ability to do things, but I know it will never steal her heart. The woman must hug me a thousand times a day!
Well, speaking of hugging your dog… go out right now and buy them turkey meatballs!!! Oh my gosh, best thing ever invented, and cut up a few in Panera broccoli soup, and you have one healthy meal!! Yes, I am in food love!
I was falling into a very bad habit of barking every time the dachshund and other dogs across the street would bark. Well, there are 3 grown dogs plus puppies so obviously they could have many reasons to bark, me, not so much. Anyway, I am not sure if you have ever heard a dachshund bark…trust me, no one would ever confuse us for a squeaky toy!!! Thanks to mom’s continuous admonishments, I now only join in the neighborhood alert system when there is obvious approaching danger such as someone walking or riding a bike down our street or our side street. Hey, a dog’s territory is as far as their eyes can see!
I hope each of you have a great week until we speak again. Stay hydrated, safe, and be sure to cool down. We wish the very best!
Love, Lenny
