The San Saba Rodeo and Livestock Association is excited to announce this year’s annual UPRA-CPRA sanctioned rodeo produced by Johnny Hoyles Cadillac Rodeo Company. Performances will begin at 7:30 each night. Professional rodeo contestants will be competing in traditional events. Leon Coffee, the legendary “funny man” will be entertaining the crowd once again this year. We are also very excited to welcome the Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse and the 1ST Calvary Division Horse Calvary Detachment. Their motto is “Living the Legend” and keeping the spirit of the Calvary alive since 1972! Hot to Trot!
Double Muggin’ has been added this year with five teams competing each night. Contact Saige at 325 203-8208 for information regarding that event.
Mutton Bustin’ competition will be during the performance as well. Children 8 years old and under 80 lbs are invited to compete for prizes. There is an entry fee of $5 for each child entering and a limited number of competitors depending on how many sheep the contractor brings, so sign up early. There will be a table near the announcer’s stand.
A Calf Scramble will be held during the performance. Children 10 years old and under are encouraged to participate. Bicycles donated by Capital Farm Credit will be awarded to winners each night. The members of the rodeo associations truly appreciate this kind gesture.
The San Saba County Team Roping will on Wednesday, August 13th. This event is produced by Tyler Mangus. Books will open at 6 p.m., and roping will begin at 7 p.m. This is for ropers living in San Saba and adjoining counties. Contact Morgan Gilger at 325 372-8654 for further information.
The San Saba County Young Farmers will be providing the concessions with a delicious menu and treats. Their proceeds go to helping the youth of San Saba County at the annual livestock show and with scholarships. Please help support their efforts.
The Rodeo Parade will be on Saturday morning ,August 16 at 10 a.m. We would like to encourage participation of local organizations, businesses, horseback riders and spectators to participate. This is a great way to advertise your business and have loads of fun as well. Participants must be signed up and in line in front of the SS Middle school by 9:45. There will also be a Goat Roping on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. at the arena.
The dance on Saturday night following the completion of the rodeo will feature Triple Shot. Your rodeo ticket will also be your admission to their performance.
