San Saba Police Officer Ty Mann was honored at the June 10, 2025, City Council meeting with the Employee of the Month Award for June.
Code Enforcement Officer Wayne Yarbrough was also honored as he was presented with the Supervisor of the Second Quarter award.
Both men were given a dedicated plaque with their name engraved on it and a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
There were no public comments at the meeting.
The following Consent Agenda items were approved: minutes from the May 13, 2025 Council meeting; payment of bills; approved Resolution No. 2025-22 waiving noise ordinance on June 28th, 2025 for Anselma Parra at Mill Pond Gazebo.
The following Discussion/ Action Items were approved by the council:
• Ordinance No. 2025-06 amending Chapter 8,Article 8.05, of the City of San Saba Code of Ordinances; Making Findings of Fact; Providing for a Savings Clause; Providing for an Effective Date; Providing for an Open Meetings Clause; and Providing for Related Matters.
• Depository Bid for fiscal year beginning October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2030, for the City of San Saba and San Saba Economic Development Commission - it would remain with City National Bank along with CD’s that are currently in place, San Saba Economic Development remain with Commercial National Bank, the City of San Saba’s Electric Reserve Money Market Account and the Electric Reserve CD remain with Commercial National Bank, and the Civic Center and Park Fund be transferred to Arrowhead Bank.
The following approved resolutions were replacements of previous Resolutions to transfer the authorizing official in each matter from the Police Chief to the Mayor of San Saba:
• Resolution No. 2025-23 replacing Resolution No. 2024-02 requesting to apply for a Criminal Justice Grant authorized under Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program for the purchase of Bullet-Resistant Shields
• Resolution No. 2025-24 replacing Resolution No. 2024-03 requesting to apply for an Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division Grant for the purchase of Rifle-Resistant Body Armor
• Resolution No. 2025-25 replacing Resolution No. 2025-02 requesting to apply for a Criminal Justice Grant authorized under Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program for the purchase of Bullet-Resistant Shields
• Resolution No. 2025-26 replacing Resolution No. 2025-03 requesting to apply for an Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division Grant for the purchase of Rifle-Resistant Body Armor
City Manager’s Report:
Scott Edmonson, City Manager reported on the following activities in the City of San Saba:
• a lot of limbs to be picked up due to recent storms
• the Electric Department has been dealing with electrical issues as a result of the storms
• the Kid’s Nature Kamp started this morning, tomorrow and Thursday
• the City is accepting sealed bids for Surplus Equipment
• ongoing Budget meetings, Electric Department tonight and Police in July
• they are still making progress working on the train track and have made it to Richland Springs
• there have been a couple of meetings regarding the AMI meters for water and electric
There were no other departmental reports given.
