Well, another school year has wrapped up here at Cherokee ISD! The last week of school was filled with events. From field day to economics fair, awards ceremonies, and celebrations, we ended the year with a bang.
With the kids clearing out of the building for awhile, our summer staff has been hard at work cleaning, organizing, refinishing floors, and so much more. One big project this summer is our new wind screen on our exterior fencing. This screen helps improve our visibility control and is an important safety measure. This was made possible by a safety grant. Thanks to Paul Bordner and Bill Woolsey for the installation. It looks really nice!
One upcoming event to mark on your calendars is our PTC-sponsored 4th of July celebration. On the 4th, we will have a parade in the morning to beat the heat. If you'd like to participate, decorate a trailer, a float, a 4-wheeler, even a horse, and line up at the Church of Christ at 8:30 a.m. for check-in. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. sharp. Later in the day, come on back for a meal and games. At 6 p.m., a fajita plate meal will be served at the football concession stand. Donations will go to the Cherokee FFA. Upon completion of the meal, there will be games on the football field until dark. A fireworks show will NOT be launched from the school property but can be viewed from school grounds at dark, so bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the show! If you are interested in helping with the meal, contact Susan Shannon, Travis Shannon, or Cody McKneely.
We hope everyone is having a fantastic summer!
