Science Mill hosts two June dinosaur events

During June, young scientists can explore the world of dinosaurs large and small at two special events taking place at the Science Mill in Johnson City, TX.

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, its Mini Makers “Tiny Tracks” offers a playful way to introduce preschoolers to STEM learning by discovering how ancient footprints helped uncover secrets of the dinosaur past.

From 10:30-11:15 a.m., young scientists will hear a themed story time followed by a related hands-on activity. Visitors are invited to bring their own favorite miniature dino toy, and create tiny tracks to compare to a life-size dinosaur track.

On June 21, 2025, the museum will host Dino Discovery Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a full day packed with STEM activities designed for curious minds of all ages.

Activities include:

Prehistoric Portraits - Explore the world of extinct organisms and see how scientists piece together clues to figure out what dinosaurs looked like.

Jurassic Explorer Field Notebook - Junior explorers will embark on a museum-wide field exploration, finding facts, solving puzzles, and creating their own one-of-a-kind dinosaurs.

Pair-odactyls - This fossil-finding adventure uses the clues left behind by prehistoric creatures to match each fossil to its ancient owner.

Special movie showings–Dinosaurs Alive (2D) and Waking T-Rex: The Story of Sue (3D)

Special Guest–The Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country will join this year's Dino Discovery Day on June 21. They will bring fossils, castings of actual dinosaur tracks found on their property, dino-themed activities, and their extensive knowledge of these prehistoric animals.

All activities come with General Admission.
