A wildlife day focusing on upland game birds will be held for landowners, land managers and anyone with an interest in wildlife and habitat management in Mason County on Wednesday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The morning part of the program will take place at Mason Mountain WMA, which is located, approximately four miles north of Mason, TX. From Mason take RR 386 north two miles and turn left onto Old Mason Road and continue for another two miles to the entrance to the WMA(4086 Wildlife Road, Mason, TX 76856).
Morning presentations will include a discussion on what has happened to turkey, quail and dove populations in the hill country, a food plot tour and brush management in the hill country. Following the field tour, participants will travel to the Mason Community Building for a catered lunch and presentations on parasites in quail, hunting considerations and getting to know your quail necropsy. Presenters include experts from the Rolling Plains Quail Research Foundation, Texas Parks & Wildlife & Texas A&M AgriLife.
