San Saba County Treasurer Lois VanBeck attended a Risk Conference last month held in Round Rock, Texas.
That conference was with the Texas Association of Counties.
She learned more about a new law pertaining to protection for pregnant workers. There was questions as to whether Texas is indeed covered. Ms. VanBeck is following the current research to see if Texas is included or not in that law. She noted it is a good law. She also stated the county does a good job making sure they take care of their pregnant employees.
She also noted that almost all of the other things covered at the Risk Conference were things San Saba County is already doing.
Ms. VanBeck reported the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) has recognized the county of San Saba as a Zero Lost Time county for 2024.
She noted that we have had Worker’s Comp claims, but there was no lost work due to them. The issues were checked out, and the employees came right back to work.
Ms. VanBeck commended the San Saba County employees for their hard work and dedication to safety.
