Dear Editor,
'Starting With A Lie'
We received the letter addressing the bond issue stating at the top of the page that senior citizens will not suffer a tax increase. Wrong! The taxable rate will not increase, but thanks to the Appraisal District you will be re-assessed at a higher amount on the value of your property. This equals a tax increase. You can bet that to pay the over 28,000,000 that's 28 million folks, your taxes and mine are going to go through the roof! How is this fair and equitable for the county as a whole?
For four years our country has been in a recession. The cost of everything is higher. Some prices have started to come down but not to the point that major construction is viable. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-kid. All I'm saying is make due with what we have until it is feasible to pay for a project like this. As a side note: In 2015 enrollment was 730 students. In 2025 we have 683; less than we had 10 years ago.
I was brought up learning that you always put your needs before wants. If you can't pay for it now, you don't need it.
