Spring break activities March 8-23 in Johnson City
The Science Mill in Johnson City, Texas, is hosting “Spring into STEAM,” a two-week long Spring Break featuring science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) hands-on activities designed to blend the best of art and science.
In addition to the 50+ regular exhibits covering light, robotics, fossils, life science, chemistry, physics, water, plants, energy, programming, and more, special STEAM Spring Break activities will include:
Flipper Bots - Use the museum’s EZ Robot Flipper Bots to test hand-eye coordination and creative thinking, by trying to flip or push the opponent’s bot out of the arena.
Pendulum Painting - In this activity, guests will see patterns created by a spherical pendulum and predict how mass affects its swing and pattern, demonstrating Newton’s 1st Law and how gravity affects the inertia of a moving object.
Make Your Own Harmonica - Guests will design and play their very own harmonica-like instrument made from household items while exploring the science of sound.
Imagination Unboxed: The challenge is to showcase artistic and engineering skills by creating fun costumes out of cardboard.
All activities come with General Admission. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.sciencemill.org.
The museum will be open expanded hours from March 8-23, including Monday - Tuesday. Hours are weekdays 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Sundays 12 noon - 4 p.m.
