It is such a busy and fun time of year here at Cherokee ISD! We have so many events and interesting projects going on.
We have finished up basketball season for our youth players as well as junior high and high school, and track is heating up! Our youth basketball 1st and 2nd grade team placed 4th in the playoffs, and the 5th and 6th grade team won the championship game. Our all-district basketball honors are as follows for the varsity teams.
For the girls:
1st Team – Payton Hanley and Lauren Roberson
2nd Team – Tilar Turman and Lily Graves
Honorable Mention – Hannah Sims
For the boys:
Co-MVP – Joel Valdez Newcomer of the Year – Uriah Valdez 1st team – Tatum Shanklin and Weston Woolsey 2nd team – Franky Penney, Jaxon White, and Robert Bench
The Pre-K through second graders embarked on a project this month called Hearts Across the World. They requested letters, postcards, or Valentine cards from different states. They ended up getting all but about four states and even received 15 cards from out of the country! The kids have really loved receiving these notes and learning more about different areas. They also spread a little joy themselves on the 13th when they took a little field trip to the nursing home in San Saba to sing some songs and deliver cards and gifts. It’s been a month of cheer for our littlest Indians!
We have a couple of events coming up to be aware of. On March 5th, we will have our six weeks awards ceremony for elementary at 3:45 in the cafeteria. March 6th will be cheer tryouts for 5th grade – 11th grade. Spring Break will be March 10th – 14th.
