Burn Ban temporarily lifted for San Saba County

The San Saba County Commissioners Court voted to temporarily lift the Burn Ban that has been in effect since January 6, 2025. This temporary action will be in effect from January 30, 2025, through February 10, 2025, at which time the Burn Ban will go back into effect.

The following information from the January 21, 2025, Commissioners Court meeting was provided by Candy Kokernot, Administrative Assistant to Judge Jody Fauley.

David Jenkins' resignation as County Tax Assessor was accepted; he will be the acting Tax Assessor until one is selected.

The item of setting up the Tax Assessor office as an elected official was tabled to discuss in Budget Hearing.

The Court did not take action at this meeting to amend Budget F/Y 2024 2025 to fund Tax Assessor Office.

No action was taken to appoint Lois Lebow (per Sheriff) to the Tax Assessor's Office.

The Court discussed reviewing and implementing Speed Limit Signage on Countywide Roads. It was noted that a Public Hearing is required to lower the speed limit to 30 miles/hour on CR 121, 236, 124, and 140.

The Court approved an Interlocal Agreement for Dispatch Services with Richland Springs ISD. They also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between San Saba County Sheriff's Office and RSISD for Law Enforcement cooperation.

The Court approved bonds for newly elected/appointed officials.

An update was given on the elevator rebuild. The upgraded elevator is up and running with only a one week turnaround.

The Court approved one line-item transfer as well as paying bills.

The next Court date is scheduled for February 10, 2025, 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom. The public is invited to attend.
