News From Cherokee ISD

Last week, our junior high basketball teams played their last games on the season against Lometa. The girls had a tough game ahead of them as they only had 5 players due to illness. Matters were made worse when one of them fouled out midway through the 3rd quarter. Despite playing 4 girls against Lometa's 5, the Lady Indians won the game! The boys didn't fare as well, as they did not come away with a win although it was a very hard fought game that ended with a close score. The varsity teams had a tough week, taking some losses against Zephyr and Richland Springs. They will play at home on Tuesday against Priddy, and then the boys will play at home against Mullin on Friday to wrap up district play.

We said goodbye to our cherished registrar, Sherrie Kroll, who has been at Cherokee for over 25 years. She has served well, worn many 'hats,' and has always done it with a smile. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her well on her retirement.

Currently our floral design class is selling Valentine's gifts as a fundraiser. You can purchase flowers, a cup with candy, or a pencil for your special someone and it will be delivered to them on February 13th. Those orders need to be in by the end of this week. Also, on Saturday the 15th, our cheerleaders will be hosting a bake sale to raise money for their uniforms and other cheer needs. They will be set up at Cherokee Corner Café from 7 a.m. until noon or sold out! Make sure to stop by and get some goodies.

Everyone at Cherokee ISD wishes you a great week!
