Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello, dearest San Saba loves. Mom and I have had a rough, unpleasant week. Have you ever heard of a tempest in a tea cup? Well, mom and I could well have Liptoned our way to the moon with all the turmoil. I am a dachshund, and just for the record, I do not write this column with my paws but with the totality of my heart! I love and respect each and every heart and mind reading my words. Furthermore, I respect the long-standing tradition set first by mom and continued by Patches and Herman almost 20 years ago. My only hope is I add a smile to your heart.

Mom and I try with all that we are and all that we have in life not improve our own lives but the lives of others. But mom is a goofy neat freak, and she noticed some very dear treasures she had were getting destroyed because they were exposed to the elements, rodents, and roaches. We bought a storage container, and our lives turned upside down and inside out! There were pictures of mom’s mom who died of stomach cancer in 1984, special gifts sent to mom when Patches and Herman died. Now one might say, why not just put them in the house for safekeeping? Um, our living room is also our bedroom, and our closet is a small opening with a beautiful shower curtain mom bought for a door. We gave away our human sized furniture when we moved in and saw where we would be living…a super expensive queen size bed, an incredible full size couch and a recliner. Sometimes it feels like there have been enough sacrifices, but never fool yourself. The very expensive shipping container ended up being a sacrifice too. Mom gave it away, and she loves the family who received it, such withstanding, she also knows she was singled out for enforcement. There are containers all over this city, on lots that defy ordinance speculations, do not have permits, but mom says it is okay because we will be moving to a real house where not only our things will belong but our hearts too! It hurt me to see mom hurt and it hurts me too to have watch her load all that stuff and then unload it into the yard. Mom says the only thing that is important is not how people treat you, but how you treat people! Mom and I will always be loving, kind, giving, and there with all that we are with a real and honest heart.

Um, speaking of being honest, boy did I ever do a bad thing!!! Kathy Saucillo was loading some of mom’s paintings in her car that her daughter Larissa and son, Logan wanted and she left the front gate opened. Mom was on the porch trying to get a moment of relaxation so I stealthily went out the gate into the unknown! Mom hears Kathy shriek comes flying off the porch just time to see Kathy going down the street! Well obviously, Kathy caught me and walked back to the house with me in her arms. She handed me to mom and I really thought mom might never let me go! Yeah, mom certainly had a rough week!

Here is hoping each of you have an amazing week! We love you so very much and wish such beautiful things for you!

Love, Lenny
