100 Years Ago December 4, 1924

On account of the fire which did considerable damage to our machinery, we will not be able to gin any more this season. We are very grateful for the patronage you have given us and are indeed sorry to have to close down this early in the season. San Saba Gin Co.

The San Saba Water Company has had a beautiful sign painted on the front of their new building which they recently erected on Wallace St.

Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Marshall entertained their brothers, Rev. C. R. Marshall of Cameron and Rev. W. H. Marshall of Corsicana for Thanksgiving. All three brothers are Methodist ministers.

Copeland’s big tent show has been playing to crowded houses this week. The Copeland’s are prime favorites in San Saba and always play to good houses here. They have a clean show and give our people a high class of dramas and vaudeville.

Miss Katielou Estep has gone to Harlingen to spend the winter with her sister, Mrs. Maxwell.

30 Years Ago December 1, 1994

Our own home town boy, Benny Deeds, was in concert with Johnny Bush and the Bandeleros Band at Brady. Benny has written several songs and has gained a following with the Texas Opry circuit. We hope he gets a hit one of these days and becomes famous. He is the son of Bobby and Helen Deeds.

Mrs. Ollie House and Jerry Mac had visitors for the Thanksgiving holiday. Williard House and wife, Donna, of Kermit, Texas, spent the holidays with his mother and brother.

Will and Kerry Snider proudly announce the arrival of their son, Waylon Tyler, born Nov. 26 in the Llano Memorial Hospital. Waylon weighed 8 lbs., 1 1/2 oz. and was 20 3/4 inches long. He is welcomed home by his big brother, Winston, age 2.

The video “ The Box”, in which Robby Haynes is featured as the young Randy Travis, has been released. The video was filmed near Buda, Texas. Robby said the filming was the greatest experience of his life. He is a student at the Performance Studio. Robby is the son of Kim and George Watson and grandson of Kenneth and Sandy McHorse.

Selections were made to the District 15A all-district football teams. Named to first team were: Richland Springs - Jason Vogel, Daniel Stevens and Sammy Rodriquez; Cherokee - Donny Ray, Andre Ford, Bryan Strong and Martin Perez. Second Team players were: Richland Springs - Bucky Lusty, Jason Eckert, Tony Soto and Regan McKinnerney; Cherokee - Clarence Biddy.
