San Saba Elementary presented its 3rd Annual “Tell Me Something Good” Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday, November 21. Students were thrilled to share their “something good” on posters as they paraded past their parents and other onlookers along South 7th Street toward the SSISD’s secondary schools. The students paraded through SSHS and SSMS where onlookers cheered for them as they shared their good things!
The parade involved 306 students and was led by the 4th graders followed by PK3 through 3rd grade students.
The purpose of this parade of sharing “something good” originated with the school’s participation in the Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes, one of which is a daily meeting where every student and staff member gets to share “something good!” This is a great way for staff members to get to know students better so that positive relationships can be developed. One way to capture a kid’s heart is to know more about him/her by asking personalized, open ended questions about the good thing so the child knows he/she is loved and valued!
San Saba Elementary is a National Showcase School for Capturing Kids’ Hearts, and “Tell Me Something Good” is just one of the many processes practiced each day! Visit the CKH.org website for more information.
