Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello there, lovely San Saba loves! What a week this dachshund has had! I asked mom to please build me separate accommodations in the backyard. Of course, I changed my mind quickly when she asked me if I enjoyed eating? Hey, nothing is worth giving up food which is a dachshund’s greatest joy.

I have talked quite often about mom’s penchant for cleaning, Well, she bought this thing called a Rumba, and I aver she wasted her money! First of all, the thing can’t do the Rumba, Cha Cha, or any dance of recognition! Second of all, it scoots along the floor and irritates me constantly. I watch it run into things and wait for that irritating voice I have heard in cars…recalculating! I thought about painting eyes, ears, nose and mouth on the thing so mom thinks a huge rat got inside and throws it out!! When mom tells it to go home, it acts like a drunken sailor searching for something of recognition, a street sign, to find its docking station! I have put a hold on mom’s Amazon purchases. I am terrified I will walk in the kitchen to find a robot doing dishes and laundry!

Before it got cooler, I would spend most of my day out on the porch, but now I pretend mom has emigrated from Lapland and I am her lap dog! She sits in her lawn chair, I jump in her lap, make her wrap her arms around me, and I rest my head on her shoulder. I think it is a perfect arrangement; I stay warm and mom feels guilty if she disturbs me. It’s a win/win unless of course she is cooking my dinner or left water running. I neither enjoy burnt food, nor swimming to bed!

I am a dachshund, not a politician, but boy did my Facebook page light up last week! Do humans get rabies shots? If not, I think they need to because I saw some pretty rabid behavior. Mom said her parents knew Senator Lloyd Bentsen and Barbara Jordan as personal friends. I saw mom smile, she hugged me and said… “I was lucky enough to be a dear friend of Louise Crump. I wish you could have known him, Lenny!” Again, I really know nothing of politics, but mom and me spend our days helping those we can, offering our hearts to all, a smile to everyone and of course our humor.

Love, Lenny
