The Richland Springs Preservation Society held their regular monthly meeting last Monday, October the 21st, at the Richland Springs Community Center. Twelve people were in attendance. The previous month's minutes and treasurer’s reports were read and approved.
Frankie Soto reported that the windows on the west side of the bank building should be installed within two weeks. The estimate for the installation is approximately $1,000. New wood frames and sills will need to be built for the windows.
The RS Boho Unique has moved their surplus stock upstairs and has expanded the shop to the space behind the front section of the store.
The Richland Springs Beautification Committee raised $1,300.00 at the Sand Bur Boogie, after paying for security and porta potties. The money will go towards the replacement of the roof on the bank building.
Chrissy Baker has resigned as Secretary and a new one is needed. Please contact Sue Ransom or Paige Moats if you are interested in the position.
Donna Hill, Historic Committee chairman, has requested copies of historic photographs and history for the bank museum. There are some historic photographs that have been damaged by the sun, and need to be restored.
Dee Crump has sent out thankyou notes to five members for their donations, three of whom sent checks after receiving their newsletter.
Potential fundraising events for the roof repair were discussed. A cider tasting contest on the day of the Beautification Committee’s Holiday Craft Market on November 30 was mentioned. The other possibility is having a Sunday Potluck dinner on December 8. Members, and anyone wanting to participate would be asked to bring a crockpot of either soup or chili, and a pan of cornbread or a dessert. Details to be determined.
The next meeting will be November 18th, the third Monday of the month, at 6:30 p.m.
