The Cherokee Indians evened up their season with a 41-27 victory over the Harper Longhorns. Even though it rained throughout the game, there were relatively few fumbles and the field stayed in good enough condition to allow a good running game.
Mr. J. F. (Stump) Edwards was recently honored on his 92nd birthday in the home of his son, Frank Edwards of Florence, TX.
This week’s “Bad DogAward” went to Shawn Sanderson for his outstanding hit on the Comanche quarterback during the Homecoming game. The award is given each week for the Armadillo team member who delivers the most outstanding his during the week’s game.
Dani Hardy was named San Saba High School Homecoming Queen during the halftime activities of the San Saba, Comanche football game. Dani, a senior, is the daughter of Fred and Linda Hardy of San Saba. Gordon Lee Oliver isn’t new to San Saba, but the shop he plans to open soon is a new business in town. Located in the 1400 block of West Wallace Street, the Pecan Shoppe will retail and wholesale in shell, cracked, and shelled pecans as well as four different varieties of peanuts. Also available will be pecan and peanut related candies and delicacies and pecan related items such as crackers for home use.

Promotion to technical sergeant of W. O. Gross Jr., 29, of San Saba, Texas, has been announced by Maj. Gen. Howard C. Davisdon, Commanding General, Tenth Air Force, EAC.
Louis Rochat Jr., student in John Tarleton College in Stephenville, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rochat Sr., at their ranch in Wallace Creek.
The post office at Cherokee has advanced to third class and Graves Burke has received his commission as postmaster.
Newman Low and family have moved to Austin to make their home. John Johanson, who bought the Low home, is moving to it today. Robert Estep bought the farm and pasture land from Newman. This is known as the Chick place.
Miss Fayvette Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Johnson, and S.-Sgt. Hersel Taff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Taff, were married at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Virgil M. Culpepper reading the vows.
R. L. Maultsby purchased the Sinclair filling station and grocery store which was recently operated by Dan Neeper. Mr. Maultsby has been in the farming and ranching business at Cherokee for the past 12 years.
