The day was hot and humid, but the activities continued on. The smell of the delicious street tacos, enchiladas, gorditas, and chicharrones was savory, and if that wasn’t enough food, one could choose a treat from the mini pancakes, funnel cakes, snow cones, popcorn, or fruit with a twist, to name a few. The sound of children enjoying the activities was great too. With their little faces painted for the occasion, they played Loteria, or tried their luck at the cake walk or ring toss and crowded at the table to paint their “Faith Rock.” No matter the activity, there was something for all.
A car show, a few contests to include the Grito, and then the silent auction and the raffle offered an opportunity to win a great prize with the lucky winners of the raffle being Austin Martinez winning the Men’s Mountain Bike, Laura Mora - the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Kay Burnett - the 5-piece patio set, Manuel Patino the 55” Samsung TV, and Robert Gray - the $300 Lowe’s Market Gift Card.
The day was coming to an end, but the queen contest was yet to be determined. Sophia Ramirez the 2023 Diez Y Seis Queen passed her crown to her successor, the 2024 Queen - Yarely Gonzales, the daughter of Olli and Becky Olavarria and Jesse Gonzales. Liliana Carbajal and Juanarcey Martinez were crowned 1st and 2nd runner ups. Congratulations were presented, and the celebration closed with a dance and live music by Los Terris de San Luis.
