The Richland Springs Preservation Society held their regular monthly meeting last Monday, September the 16th, at the Richland Springs Community Center. Fourteen people were in attendance. The previous month's minutes and treasurer’s reports were read and approved.
Frankie Soto reported that the windows he had ordered are all in, and he is waiting for the contractor to do the installation. They will need pressure treated wood for the trim, and Jodie Lewis said that he had a source that might help provide that.
Anne Alston reported that there had been previous donations made for windows that need to be recognized. One, was made by Evleyn Miller, honor of Haskell Miller, who had been a teacher, coach and principal at Richland Springs High School from the 1940s until the 1970s. The other donation was in honor of Speck Spurlock, another longtime resident of Richland Springs. When all the windows are installed, and all the donations for windows are completed, these names will be included with the plaques recognizing donations for the new windows. There have been other more recent donations made, in the amounts of $500 from Donna Hill in honor of her late husband, George Hill, and another donation of $1,000. All donations are tax deductible.
The Shoppe 1910 space is not usable at this time, due to water leaking every time it rains. Two vendors have had to pull out until the roof is replaced and repairs are made. However, there are no leaks in the RS Boho Unique or in the room behind the shop.
Jackie Basquette requested to rent the space which is now being used as storage behind the RS Boho. She plans to expand the store. This was voted on and approved.
Paige Moates, with the Richland Springs Beautification Committee requested volunteers to help with the Sandbur Fundraiser on Saturday night. Dee and Larry Crump, Jackie and Chuck Basquette, and Sue Ransom agreed to help with taking donations at the gate.
Recently, Chrissy Baker gave a tour of the bank building to Aric Bostick, a public speaker and YouTuber who was in town. She also gave a tour to another YouTuber, Shawn Overton who also videoed the tour. His You-Tube Channel is DustUps.
The next meeting will be October 21st, the third Monday of the month, at 6:30 p.m.
