Did you hear the music in the air Saturday night? If you didn’t make it to the rodeo arena, then you missed a good party.
The event was hosted by the Beautification Committee for the Preservation Society old bank repairs. Volunteers from the Preservation Society manned the gate for donations. The Beautification Committee provided food trucks, and Micah Shaw was the DJ for the evening. This was a family event as well as a community evening. It was wonderful to see parents with their kids showing up for an evening of music and dancing. On behalf of the RSPS, I want to thank everyone who donated, worked, and especially Paige Moats and the Beautification Committee for their generosity. Let’s do this again.
The Richland Springs Preservation Society will be having all their future meetings on the third Monday of each month.
There will be changes made to the bank building. RS BoHo Unique will be expanding, and there will be another room open for local vendors or crafts workers to find a home. It may take a while, but the goal is to fill the bank with activity and earn enough money to fix the roof. They will accept all donations towards their $50,000 goal.
The Coyote athletes have excelled this season. All teams, volleyball, cross-country, and football are experiencing good solid wins. I was impressed by the work of our junior high teams.
Their coaches are doing a fantastic job honing their skills and preparing them for high school. I’m putting less information about the sports because the Coyotes Booster Club has stepped up and is doing a magnificent job of getting information to the newspaper. Way to go folks.
Varsity volleyball and junior varsity will play games on the 26th against Veribest and on the 30th against DeLeon. Varsity boys have a home game this week which means another Fifth Quarter. Come on out and visit with our boys. They travelled to Burkeville last week and brought home another mercy rule win. The weather should be perfect for a Friday night game. See you at the game.
My phone and email are inundated with political calls for support. I know they are important, and both sides are outlining the urgency of our upcoming elections - but it’s so annoying. I do believe these next elections are important based on the platforms espoused by the parties. All I can tell you is to get out and vote no matter what. This election is not about the presidential candidates, it’s about what the parties have planned for the country. Do your homework, everyone, and get out and vote. Please don’t stay home because you hate both candidates. Study the platforms and vote accordingly. Especially all you professing Christians. The pollsters claim over forty million Christians stayed home. That’s not Biblical. Vote for your beliefs.
The ladies are heading to Mason for one final trip to the Ake property. Mr. Ake has been so kind and helpful, and we are taking him a special gift. There are about 14 ladies heading to Mason on Monday. I don’t need any more material, but I do want to go out and eat with my quilting friends. Quilting and Bible study meetings are held every Tuesday from 4-5:30 p.m. You don’t have to be a quilter. You just must want to spend time with a talented group of ladies studying the Bible and lifting one another up.
It’s been a bad week for accidents. Frank Pierce ended up in the hospital after a sudden meeting with a tree. Wanda Gibson fell and will have surgery this week. Johnny Reeves is having another treatment for cancer. There was a hefty list at church this morning. Please lift our community members up in your prayers. Our nation needs prayers, as do our upcoming elections. Ukraine and Israel are battling for their nations, and our border is still open. We could spend hours praying for peace in the world and here at home. Please take a little time for local needs, but most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
