On Friday, our varsity team traveled to Leander to play Round Rock Christian. Cherokee won 46-0 at the half. Joel Valdez had 176 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He was also 2-3 passing and one touchdown. Tatum Shanklin caught a touchdown pass and an interception on defense. CJ Miller also added a score. Weston Woolsey added an interception returned for a touchdown. Junior high and JV will have games this Thursday at home, but it is a bye week for varsity.

It was a good week for Cherokee football with three big wins!
Our junior high football team played Lometa on Thursday and won with a final score of 13-0. Parker Hanley and Asher Williams both scored for the Indians. Caden White led the Indians with seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
Our JV also played Lometa and won with a final score of 38-6. Preston Hanley and John Clark led the way on offense. Ryan Lemaster had six tackles and an interception.
As the first six weeks comes to an end this week, expect report cards to come home next week. Also next week, we will be having an elementary awards ceremony. It will be at 3:45 on Wednesday, September 25th. One six weeks down, five to go! We are off to a great start and looking forward to a successful school year.
