Texas State Fair Security recently announced that firearms, including concealed carry firearms, will not be permitted within the fairgrounds during the upcoming Texas State Fair.
'Gun Free Zones don't work. This is another feel good attempt that accomplishes absolutely nothing for safety' Chris Mc-Nutt, President of Texas Gun Rights said.
'Time and again, data proves that 'gun free zones' are not only dangerous, but 94% of mass shootings take place in these kill zones. The State Fair is practically telling you to check your safety at the door and making you put your life at risk by turning you into a sitting duck' McNutt continued.
According to Crime Prevention Research Center, 94% of mass shootings between 1950 and 2023 occurred in Gun Free Zones. Further, armed civilians stopped attacks in over 35% of mass shootings.
The facts make it clear: “Gun Free Zones” are some of the most dangerous places to be without a firearm. Texas is a safer place when Texans have the ability to protect themselves.
Texas Gun Rights is calling on the Texas State Fair to rescind this new policy immediately, allowing lawful gun owners to exercise their God-given right to self defense while on the fairgrounds. TXGR is also looking into legislation with state officials to further protect the rights of Texas on lands managed by the public.
