The Science Mill in Johnson City is now accepting registrations for 2024-2025 Homeschool Days. The program is open to homeschoolers, homeschooling groups, learning pods, and students with asynchronous schedules for children between the ages of 5 and 17.
The Science Mill Homeschool Days are designed to give students and their adults a chance to explore a STEM field in greater depth through activity stations, exposure to STEM careers, and age-based Learning Labs led by Science Mill educators.
Learning Labs are segmented by age (5 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 to 17), while the optional in-depth STEM Scholar option is for children ages 8 to 17.
Homeschool Days are held on the second Wednesday of each month from September 2024 to May 2025, with January off.
The museum opens at 10 a.m. with the Learning Lab for ages 5-7 starting at 10:30 a.m. This lab is 30 minutes long. The Learning Lab for ages 8-10 starts at 11:30 a.m. and is 45 minutes long. The Learning Lab for ages 11-17 starts at 1 p.m. and is an hour long.
Pricing starts at $9.50 General Admission per child per day (does not include access to a Learning Lab), with a comprehensive Homeschool Day School Year Package available for $150 per child and accompanying adult (inclusive of Learning Lab). Class sizes are limited and pre-registration required. Signup is available online at sciencemill.org.
The Science Mill is also offering the STEM Scholar Program which will conclude with a project showcase in April where students get the opportunity to design a new exhibit for a science museum. This add-on requires an additional fee.
