The Richland Springs Report

For those of you who have not seen the post by Rennie Mann regarding our new Superintendent, the following excerpt is from Mr. Mann’s post.

“I am glad to announce that the RSISD Schoolboard has found our new Superintendent. As we continue to make our district better and better, we encourage everyone in the community to come by and visit Mr. Kirby and attend our board meetings.”

Mr. Jeff Kirby, a graduate of Bullard High School, Southwest Texas State University, and Concordia University. He has 32 years of experience combined as a Superintendent, Principal, Teacher, and Coach. His entire career has been spent at small schools. He states he is looking forward to working with our school board, faculty, staff, students, and community. His bio is on the Facebook page posted by board President Rennie Mann.

The local farmer’s market went well this past Saturday. A new vendor brought three flavors of ice cream. From what I witnessed, all vendors sold numerous items from their table. I won’t name the vendors each week, but please stop by early Saturday and purchase locally grown and made items. This is a wonderful way to support local growers, save gas and save money. Sounds like a win-win for everyone.

The town is being tidied up for the Fourth of July Celebrations to be held on the first Saturday in July. For anyone new to our small town, we have the best fireworks display around. There will be vendors, games, and various competitions. Bring your family and friends to Coyote country and enjoy the festivities.

Summer is travel time and that doesn’t just mean me. The Moat family (Paige, Piper, and Dalton) spent a couple of weeks touring Washington. Judging by the photos, they had a super time. I love the history of Washington. Kristi and Chris Perry headed to the farm. Looks like some of the Lusty family headed to the beach, and I’m going to Canada.

Prayers continue to be needed for our community members. Johnny Reeves will hear from his cancer doctors on Tuesday. We are praying for a good report. Danny Phillips is doing a little better after his recent doctor’s visit. Shannon Barclay Norris fell and broke her hip, but she is doing well after her surgery. Thurman Saxon is walking better, but still has problems with leg swelling. The Staar and Locker families headed to Howard after Michael Locker was hospitalized. He will be released soon. Our good friend Al Behrens is in hospice care and is not expected to be much longer. He is a good Christian and is ready to go, so although we are sad; we are ready. Our community is saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Hutchins, an ex-member of our school community.

Please pray for our country, our President, the upcoming elections, and the wars plaguing our world. Pray for our border and the criminals that our attacking our citizens. Don’t forget the families impacted by the fires and floods. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families.
