HOWDY from Bend, It’s been a busy week in Bend. We have been blessed with more rain, and the creeks, rivers, and lakes have all gotten a little more full. The boat ramp at Colorado Bend State Park is closed, however I’ve seen a ton of kayakers driving down towards the parks. I imagine that kayaking would be a blast right now, as long as you can avoid any debris that might be left floating around.
Last week was the last Bend Community Meeting until September. The Bend Fish Fry will be held June 7th. I do believe that there are still some Bend Cookbooks for sale.
Bend United Methodist Church is gearing up for their Annual Camp Meeting, which starts on June 6th at the Methodist Campground.
I had a nice chat with Christine Byrd earlier this week. She and Jon are doing well, and Jon is enjoying retirement. Christine also informed me that their son, Steven Byrd, is the new Ag Teacher in Lampasas! Congratulations Steven!!!
Bend Church of Christ is in the process of repainting the church. Members of the church have been hard at work scraping away at old paint. Anyone that would be interested in helping, please contact me at 325-6283545. A huge thank you goes out to Eric and Jennifer (McCoy) Swartzell for opening their home on Monday and serving a hot lunch to those hard at work in the outside heat. Judy McCoy also was a huge help with the food. Community members that have pitched into the community project include: Eric and Jennifer (McCoy) Swartzell; Doug, Kristi, and Jaylee Messer; Silas Clark; Anthony Henniger; Patsy Henniger, Toni (Clark) Mayben; Billy and Christie Cofield (Granger), Brandie Henniger (ME, lol), Waylon Harris; Stephen and Denita Bynum; Clovia Ketchum; William Clark, and Boyd Clark. One of the work days, Boyd Clark graciously cooked and served Smoked Brisket, Chicken and Ribs. YUMM.
Until next week, Brandie from the Bend 325-628-3545 countrybrandie@gmail.com
