American Legion Post to meet on Memorial Day

Local Worship Pastor to Deliver Message 

The American Legion Post of San Saba will meet and hold a prayer brunch beginning 10:30 a.m. at Napoli’s Restaurant on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th. Rodney G. Payton, Worship Pastor at San Saba's First Baptist Church, will present the program.

Born in Washington, Missouri, Mr. Payton graduated from Roosevelt High School in San Antonio in 1978. He attended Hardin-Simmons University graduating with a degree in music in 1984. Mr. Payton has been with the First Baptist Church for 6½ years. He has been married for 39 years; he has three children, 11 grandchildren, and one on the way.

Local Students to be Recognized 

Special guests invited to the brunch are local students at San Saba High School. John Robert Ham will be recognized for his American Legion Scholarship, and Winton Lackey will be recognized for his commitment to attend the upcoming 2024 American Legion Boys State. Entering the US Navy after graduation will be Minerva Vazquez-Martinez.

Reminder to Utilize Flag Drop Box 

Located at the public library and the police department, the used flag drop box is available to the public. All worn or used flags are encouraged to be placed in the box for proper disposal. Boy Scout Troop No. 55 of San Saba is responsible for the honorable retirement of the flags.
