Hello San Saba County, My name is Dwayne Shaw. Many know me as “Bubba” and I am running for San Saba County Sheriff. I’m a lifelong resident of San Saba, graduating from SSHS in 1993. I started my public service career at age 18, volunteering for the S.S. Co. Volunteer EMS and the S.S Volunteer Fire Department where I served as the Secretary/Treasurer. My first job was with the San Saba Co. Sheriff’s Office as a Jailer/Dispatcher while attending college and the police academy, then a deputy. Later, I was hired by Chief Ray Riggs and promoted as the first ever Sergeant for the San Saba PD. I worked for SSPD for 20 years, promoted to Sergeant and then Chief of police, retiring in 2015. Then went back to college to pursue my interest in mortuary science. I continued to work in San Saba and in the prison system’s Education Department under Mullin ISD. I have also served as treasurer/financial officer on the Dove Project Board of Directors.
During retirement, I assisted the Brownwood Fire Marshal’s Office with fire investigations. I maintained all licenses held with the State… Jailer, Peace Officer, Arson Investigator, and Telecommunicator. In 2020, I realized that law enforcement was my true passion/calling. I returned to work for the S.S. Co. Sheriff’s Office as Chief Deputy and held that position until I resigned in August of ‘22. I’m currently employed at the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
I am an animal lover and have 2 dogs, Molly and Dexter. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. I am a Christian, and my family and I are members of the First United Presbyterian Church. My family roots in San Saba are deep, dating back to 1854 when my Sloan ancestors settled.
I have served our home of San Saba in many positions throughout the last 30 years and would be honored to return and serve as your next Sheriff.
