Former PUC director is now chairman

The former executive director of the Public Utility Commission was sworn in last week as chairman of the commission. Thomas Gleeson, who has worked at the PUC for 15 years, most recently as the agency’s executive director, was appointed to the commission by Abbott in mid-January.

“As a long-time employee of the PUCT, I’m deeply familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the agency. Even more importantly, as a husband, dad, and ratepayer, I know how the decisions we make here impact the daily lives and finances of Texas families,” Gleeson said.

The PUC regulates the state’s electric, telecommunications, water and sewer utilities. It was founded in 1975.
