Contests for SSHS Art Students

December was a busy month for San Saba High School Art students; over 80 students competed in the Youth Art Month Flag contest. Students were challenged to design a flag that not only represented Texas but used the design theme “Dream in Art.” The student body and staff members voted for the best design. Gracen Shahan’s design won first and will advance to the state contest were one flag will be selected to represent the state of Texas. Sabrina Dozier was second, Rebecca Davis, and Jose Vega tied for third.

Gracen’s pencil drawing “Cows” was also selected to compete in the Texas Art Education Associations (TAEA) Spring Exhibit. The TAEA committee will select 100 pieces of student artwork to display at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in March. Congratulations to all and good luck, Gracen!
