Tree damages headquarters

San Saba Volunteer Firefighters were called to Colorado Bend State Park the afternoon of Friday, July 14th, where a large portion of a massive live oak tree fell onto the Park headquarters building.

The building suffered extensive damage, but no one was hurt. A park employee was inside the building when the tree crashed through the roof, but he was uninjured and able to escape.

Other responders included the San Saba County Sheriff’s Department, Hamilton EMS, and the state park police, and except for securing the area, there was nothing that required further action by responders.

Heavy equipment will be required to remove the tree from the building, and the building will remain off limits until it can be repaired or replaced.
