The San Saba Golden Armadillo Band has been busy over the past few weeks. The band competed at the Hill Country Marching Festival in Fredericksburg on September 28th. They tied for 3rd at that contest in Class 2A with Junction. On October 5th, the band participated in the Harry Bradberry Marching Classic in Dublin finishing 3rd in open class competition and winning outstanding Colorguard and a 1st division rating. On October 12th, the band traveled to San Angelo to participate in the Concho Classic Marching Festival finishing 2nd in Class 2A and winning outstanding Woodwinds and a 1st Division Rating.
The previous competitions helped prepare the band for the UIL Region 32 Marching Contest this past weekend in Burnet where they earned a Division 1 Superior Rating from all 3 judges advancing them to the area level contest. The area contest will be held at Groesbeck High School in Groesbeck, TX on Saturday, November 2nd and will be a double elimination contest. The top 4 bands will advance to the UIL State Marching Contest. The band's 2024 UIL program is titled “Breaking Darkness" featuring "Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette, "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, "Nimrod" from Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar, and original material by Luke McMillan.
