Displaying the American flag on major holidays and special occasions in addition to the Armadillo flag on football Fridays has been a proud tradition in our community for many years. The Rotary Club of San Saba offers the citizens and businesses of our community the ability to join in that proud tradition in 2024 and to demonstrate the community pride and spirit that has always characterized San Saba.
This program starts around Memorial Day each year for businesses who wish to participate.
Members of the Rotary Club offer flag services to businesses and individual citizens who are along the main routes of Highway 190 and Hwy 16. For an annual fee of $100, members of the club will put up and take down "Old Glory" on ten major U.S. holidays and put up and take down Armadillo flags on football Fridays. Your fee may be treated as a tax-deductible donation to the Rotary Club of San Saba, Texas, which is a 501(c)(3) organization.
The Flag Project is an important fundraiser for the Rotary Club, which has a long history of supporting many worthwhile civic activities and events. In the past year, the Rotary Club provided $10,000 in county-wide scholarships, cleaned up local highways, hosted our annual golf tournament, and recognized students of the month at SSISD. Essentially, all funds collected by the Rotary Club are returned to the community and/or students in some manner.
The Rotary Club motto is "Service Before Self" and its members strive to conduct their daily business and lives by a four-way test asking, "(1) Is it the truth? (2) Is it fair to all concerned? (3) Does it build goodwill and better friendships? (4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?" The club is looking for new members and invites all citizens interested in providing community service to join and attend its meetings. The Rotary Club meets every Thursday from noon to 1:00 P.M. at Pepperbelly’s. Please join us anytime!
