Do any of you remember the name W. J. Millican? He wrote under the pen name “Gimlet” for our paper a very long time ago. He was a resident of San Saba and Bend. According to his great-great-grandson, Andrew Bass, W. J. Millican and his son, Ernet Scott, were prominent citizens and pround business owners in the community.
Andrew Bass has written a book about Felix E. Scott, his great-uncle. Felix was a lifelong resident of San Saba until he left to enlist in the Army Air Forces after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Sadly, he died in India while piloting a P-51 fighter plane.
Andrew has spent the last five years writing a book to tell Felix’s story. Since Felix and his extended family were lifelong residents there in San Saba, Andrew wanted to share some about his venture in writing the book with you, our readers.
Stay tuned next week for Part 1 on his venture in writing this book.
Andrew donated a copy of his book, Flying with Felix, to the Rylander Memorial Library. You will know some names in the book. Your relatives may even be in the book. Check it out today!
