Traffic Crash with Injuries by Post Office

On May 31st, 2024, at approximately 0900 hours, San Saba Police responded to a Traffic Crash with Injuries in the 600 block of South High Street (SH 16).

Upon officers’ arrival and a preliminary investigation, an 18 wheeler trailer carrying a heavy load of pipes was traveling north on State Highway 16. The 18 wheeler was near the intersection of SH 16 and East Green Street when it lost control and jackknifed. The trailer of the 18 wheeler flipped over, causing the rest of the vehicle to flip on its side. The heavy pipes were thrown from the trailer and skid down SH 16 before coming to a stop in the 600 block South High Street and Annex.

While investigating the accident, it was determined the driver of the vehicle, was a 37 year old male. The driver sustain injuries from loose objects inside the cab and was transported to Lampasas Hospital.

San Saba Police and several other agencies responded to help with the accident scene. State Highway 16 was reopen at approximately 1453 hours.

'We are still investigating the cause of the accident; we would like to thank the San Saba Fire Department, San Saba Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS and TxDOT for assisting the San Saba Police Department.” San Saba Police Chief John Bauer.

This investigation, by the San Saba Police Department, remains on-going.
