The 2022-2023 athletic year officially kicked off last Friday evening as the San Saba All Sports Booster Club held their annual “Meet the Dillos” at the Civic Center. We don’t think we could call it standing room only, but there wasn’t much sitting space left once the event started. Special thanks to Joe Pete Smith and all the guys that fried the catfish in the 100+ degree heat, and HUGE thanks to Hamrick’s Automotive and Harry’s for covering the cost of the food that allowed the SSASBC to raise even more money for the athletes of San Saba.

The cheerleaders led the cheers, the Dilloettes did their high kicks and the band blasted out some of our favorite songs to the delight of the crowd. Athletic director Andreas Aguirre introduced all the coaches at SSISD along with the participants in cross country and the football. Mixed in between the introduction, Mark Wise helped us auction off several items that raised right at $ 12,000.00! Once again, we would like to thank JORDAN’S CATTLE AUCTION and HARRY’S for their momentous support as they placed bids on $3,000.00 worth of items and then returned them to be rebid on. Because of this generosity, several items not only made twice as much money, but other community members went home with some one of-a-kind keepsakes.

Congratulations to and thank you to everyone that placed bids and supported our student athletes!
