2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
As I was preparing to write this article with a New Year theme, I received a morning devotion text from my good friend, and Brother in Christ, Dan. In it he used the same text verse that I was considering for my theme this morning. Every morning I receive a text message from him with an encouraging and challenging thought to provoke me unto good works.
In this article today, I will use some of his thoughts to encourage each of you as you march boldly into the unknown of a New Year.
As a believer, may our New Year’s emphasis be a fresh desire to walk closer to the Lord and to be a better witness for Christ, that by our life and lip others may see Christ in us.
The lesson to be learned is: If we say that we have Christ in our heart, then the Spirit of Christ should be seen in our daily life. May we yield to the Holy Spirit within and fulfill His word according to Matthew 5:16, to “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” May Christ be seen in our lives in 2024.
My new theme for this New Year is ”Doing more in 24.” But, I also realize that the Bible says in Proverbs 27:1 “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”
In today’s world, the age old saying rings ever true for the believer in Christ. “We know not what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.” Just as Joshua embarked on taking the promised land, he was told to “be strong and of a good courage.” So our spiritual goals in facing the unknown of 2024 call for a strong faith and encouragement in the ever present promises of God.
2 Corinthians 1:29, “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”
May each of you have a very blessed New Year in the Lord as you trust him daily for strength and courage to face each and every challenge.
