The Science Mill in Johnson City, Texas, is hosting its “STEM Rodeo” Spring Break event from Saturday, March 9, through Sunday, March 17, 2024.
The event features nine days of STEM-based hands-on activities, including:
-Create a Thaumatrope, exploring “persistence of vision”
-Create an LED mini postcard, using a LED light and a coin cell battery
-Explore the vocal visualizer, observing how frequency and amplitude manifest in the creation of unique shapes and patterns
-Design a rodeo, combining creativity and engineering skills using cardboard
-Film Canister Rockets, launching a rocket by making a chemical reaction
-Makey Makey Jukebox, interactive hands-on experience combining music, coding, and circuits
The museum’s 50+ regular exhibits covering light, robotics, fossils, life science, chemistry, physics, water, plants, energy, programming, and more, will also be open, along with the Lady Bird Café and Gift Shop.
Community Partner “Girlstart” will be facilitating STEM Rodeo activities on March 15-16.
Extended museum hours during Spring Break will be 10am-4pm; Sundays 12 noon-4pm. The special STEM activities will run continuously 10:30-12:30, 1:30-3:30 except Sunday. Some activities are scheduled at specific times. Updated daily schedules and advance tickets are available at www.sciencemill.org.
