The Hickory UWCD No. 1 is again offering scholarships to students who live in the District to attend the Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors Program. This year the Tier 1 program will be the week of June 11-17, 2023.
Applicants must be in high school or entering high school in the 2023/24 school year, must be 14 years old or older by September 1, 2023, and must be a current 4-H Member or be willing to join.
The Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors Program was formed in 2017 to educate youth about water resources in Texas. Every spring, up to 30 high school youth are selected to participate in a summer 4-H2O Leadership Academy (tour). Students travel throughout Texas to learn how water is collected, conveyed, treated, conserved and managed to meet the need of our economy and citizenry.
To reinforce knowledge gained during the academy, water ambassadors pass on that information to others as they engage in various education and service activities throughout the year. This program also provides a platform for youth to connect with water industry professionals and educators who represent a wide range of water disciplines.
