The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity cross country teams competed on Wednesday, October 6, in the seventh meet of the 2021 season at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Goldthwaite High School.
The Armadillos boys’ team placed third out of 11 teams who fielded at least runners at the varsity level and had some great efforts for the seventh meet of the 2021 season. In the 5,000-meter run, San Saba junior Noah Martinez had a superb ninth-place finish with a time of 17:40.00, while sophomore Julius Salinas placed 15th out of 103 runners with a mark of 18:11.00.
Dillos junior Everett Eidson placed 19th with a mark of 18:25.00, while Fabian Salinas came in 29th place with a mark of 19:05.00. San Saba sophomore Myles Sanchez and freshman Jordan Whitney finished in 34th and 35th place, respectively, with a time of 19:17.00.
As for the Lady Dillos in the girls’ two-mile run, senior Nojemi Martinez placed 11th in a field of 81 runners with a great time of 13:46.00. Other notables were Lady Dillos sophomore runner Jenna Lambert coming in 23rd with a solid time of 14:07.00, while junior Olivia Lusty placed in 53rd with a mark of 15:27.00 last week.
Up next on their meet schedule, San Saba will start their postseason as the Dillos and Lady Dillos host the District 29-2A cross country meet on October 12, at San Saba River Golf Course.
