San Saba County Republican Party Update

The holiday season is upon us and as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas, and ring in the New Year, our ballot for the March 2024 Republican Party Primary is firming up and applications are in. Recently, Kenley Kroll, incumbent County Commissioner for Precinct 3, submitted his form to run again. To date, Kroll, as well as County Commissioner for Precinct 1 James Lebow and County Attorney Randy Robinson, will run unopposed. There are only a few days left in the Filing Period, which officially ends at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11th. In the event that someone decides to file on Monday, I will be in the County Courthouse from 4 - 6 p.m. to take any last minute applications.

Our House District 68 State Representative David Spiller recently sent me a text link to an interview he had with Jason Whitely, Senior Political Reporter for Dallas TV station WFAA and host of the show Inside Texas Politics . He discussed his and Senator Charles Perry's HB4/SB4 Border Security Bill, which allows local and state law enforcement to arrest, on a misdemeanor charge, any person entering Texas illegally. In the discussion, Spiller defended the bill's language and intent and eased some concerns that it might lead to racial profiling. The very informative, full interview can be seen on YouTube or Apple Podcast.

House District 68 challenger, Kerri Kingsbery, will be attending the Pecan Valley Republican Women's Club Christmas Party on December 21st at 6 p.m. at the Brownwood Country Club.

For those who would like to meet Kingsbery, this is a great opportunity to do so in a festive, social event. Also, Kingsbery will be participating in a Candidate Forum with the Brown County Republican Women's Club at the Brownwood Country Club at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 12th as well as the San Saba Rotary Candidate Forum on Tuesday, January 30th at the High School.

On a final note, last Friday, December 1st, Governor Greg Abbott hosted the Texas Republican County Chairmen's Association at a Christmas Reception in the Governor's Mansion in Austin from 4:30 - 6 p.m. My wife, Jacqueline, and I were extremely honored to attend this event and present to Governor Abbott a Christmas gift bag of various pecan products from local San Saba stores, whose names were prominently displayed on each item, so he and the First Lady of Texas could enjoy the wonderful flavors of 'The Pecan Capital of the World' during their holiday season.
