Meet Charlie! He is this month's featured foster pup. Charlie, a 10-month-old Catahoula mix, is available for adoption through San Saba County Friends of Animals.

Charlie is all about having fun! He loves to play with other dogs of any age and size. His best friend is any dog who will run and wrestle with him until they are both tired, then settle in with him for a good long nap. Romp, rest, repeat - that's Charlie's motto.

He is very smart and treatmotivated, so he has already learned several commands. We are working on leash walking. Charlie is housebroken (with a doggy door) and crate-trained. He sleeps all night long in his crate with no accidents. Like most pups, he is a chewer and needs to have rope and rubber toys to satisfy that urge. He LOVES attention from humans.

Charlie's best home would have one or more other dogs young enough to enjoy him, and at least one adult human who will continue to work on his training. He has been known to get over a 4 1/2-foot 'pasture' gate, but a six-foot fence (wood or chain link) keeps him secured. As far as we know, he would be fine around children but might be a little too active right now for very small children. He is very interested in cats and will need more training to be around them.

Charlie weighs about 45 pounds now and will likely get a little larger but probably not more than 50-55 pounds full grown. He is neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccinations and heartworm prevention.

If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please send a message through our Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/SanSabaCountyFriendsOfAnimals) or call or text us at 372-325-7387. Prospective adopters will be asked to fill out an application and provide references. Our dog adoption fee is $100.
