The San Saba Armadillos finished up their pre-district schedule with an impressive win over Eldorado 26-0 and now have double their win total from the 2021 season and moved to 4-0. San Saba fought through several moments of adversity that included some costly penalties on the Dillos' part and some new rules that apparently were created during the long drive out to west Texas. When the final horn sounded, the Dillos came out victorious and now head into district play with an unblemished record. San Saba looks to improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2019 with a win over Hamilton this Friday; game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

Defensive stats

San Saba’s hard- hitting defense once again held tough throughout the night and kept the Eagles' double wing offense to a minimum, and after four games, the Dillo defense is only allowing 5.7 points per game and have held tight as the offense often takes a series or two to get going. Leading the way on defense was LB Winton Lackey with 10 tackles followed by the big, long DE Dylan Ware who had eight tackles and three sacks. Ware's 12 total sacks ranks him as one of the top leaders in all classifications thus far this year. LB Zuri Herrera had nine tackles and a fumble recovery while Lane Miller and Levi Glover both chipped in with seven tackles each.

Offensive stats

The Dillos mixed the game plan up a little this week against the Eagles; what had previously been a run-oriented offense turned out to be a run game mixed in with several big passes. QB Lance Taylor threw Continued on Page 12 - See Armadillos Grind for 191 yards and was 11 of 18 passing (61%) with three passing touchdowns. Once again, Tyler Johnson was the biggest offensive threat; Johnson had six receptions for 121 yards (20.7 avg) and three receiving touchdowns. RB Ethan Gonzales was the work horse on the ground for the Dillos; Gonzales ran the ball 17 times for 86 yards (5.06 avg) and rushed for one touchdown. Lane Miller and Jaxzen Mask contributed to the team with one reception each, and Sophomore WR Levi Glover had a huge 46-yard re ception on 3rd down that helped seal the game for the Dillos.

11:03 – San Saba’s opening drive and opening score comes way of Taylor finding Johnson in the back of the end zone on a 27-yard pass. PAT is good; 7-0 San Saba.

4:40 – The Dillos march the ball down to the 9-yard line; from there, Taylor finds Johnson for his second passing TD on the night. PAT is no good; 13-0 San Saba.
