Things are happening in our small town. I’ve been asked about the changes around Floyd Gossett’s building downtown. The landscaping has been cleaned up, the building is getting a little spick and span preparing to open yet another business establishment. This one will be run by Floyd and Susan’s niece, Marcy Henderson. I’m sure the clean-up has caught everyone’s attention. Several people have contributed to the fresh look around the building. Marci says it will be a little used merchandise business. I hear she has some nice furniture for sale.

On that note, Shoppe 1910 will discount all Christmas items for the next week. By the time this article comes out, they will also have had their first community event. In partnership with Dee Crump, Chrissy will have a bow making clinic. More clinics are in the planning for the future. Don’t forget RS BoHo Unique has some wonderful items for sale on sale as well.

The basketball games against Brady Bulldogs were a threepeat.

Congratulations to our varsity girls’ basketball 83-24, varsity boys 54-3 and junior varsity girls 27-26.

Christmas break will begin at noon on the 22nd. Parents are invited to the awards ceremony and program on Thursday the 21st. The varsity boys and girls will have tournaments from the 3-5 of January.

The First Baptist Church will hold a candlelight caroling service on Sunday the 24th at 5:00 p.m. The service will be followed by cookies and cocoa in the fellowship hall. All community members are welcome to attend and enjoy the warmth and love of this season.

Russ and I went to Fredericksburg last Saturday to meet with our oldest son Scott and his family. We went to Friedhelm’s Bavarian Restaurant. That venue has been closed for a long time while they were making renovations. The overall look didn’t change much, but new booths and fresh paint have taken this restaurant up a notch. It was already at the top of the list for excellent German food. The lady at the next table brought a container for her friend in Alpine. Apparently, the cabbage soup is well known for its excellence.

That’s a long way to go for soup. My schnitzel was delicious. If you head that way, try to plan to eat your lunch or dinner with them.

While the kids are out on Christmas break, the stock show and Youth Fair will be held on January 3-5. Good luck to all our local competitors. The Wednesday Kids’ Church will meet on Wednesday the 20th and then break until January 17th. Students will be back in school on the ninth, but we will wait another week to make sure we are prepared for the new year.

Many people will be travelling over the next week, and the risk of accidents increases with more traffic on the roads. Our hearts go out to the family of the woman who was killed last week on her way home from work. Please pray for her family, the driver of the other vehicle, and the paramedics and EMT personnel who had to work at the accident scene. Please add the family of Bob Collins who passed away Friday.

Please keep our sick and shut in community members in your prayers and help them where possible. Save some special prayers for friends and family who have lost loved ones this year. Our country, Israel, Ukraine, and our border all need some divine intervention. Please pray for the safety of our soldiers under attack from Iran-backed rebels.

Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. God bless you all, and I pray everyone will have a peaceful Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season.
