Throughout the country, we have been preparing to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Surprisingly, many foreign visitors who have come to see the FIFA Cup are celebrating with us. The internet is full of astonished and happy guests reporting how wonderful our people, our food, and our country is to them. They are astonished at the fact we have free refills, massive quantities of food at reasonable prices, impressive gas prices, and outstanding gas stations like Buckee’s. They gasp at the variety of items and size of our grocery stores. I hope those who continue to disparage our country can step back and see this unique country with new and patriotic eyes. Happy birthday, America.
Speaking of the celebration, don’t forget our magnificent Fourth of July celebrations sponsored by the Howlers Club. This year the parade will begin at 8:30 AM and follow its usual route. Pease be on time if your are planning to be in the parade. It may be tiny in comparison to big cities, but we are proud of our parade. A substantial change for this year is that all festivities and games will be held at the Coyote Feed Store. No one will have to walk all over town to get to an event. It will all be attractively packaged at the Feed Lot. Thank you, Howlers Club for this wonderful celebration.
First Baptist had another successful VBS turn out this year. On an average, we had 21 kids from Pre-K to 5th each day, four junior high helpers and thankfully at least 10 adult helpers. I can report that Mrs. Perry, the director, was delighted with all the help we had this year. The theme was learning the 23rd Psalm, along with a little sheep and shepherd history. Thank you to all our participants and helpers.
I didn’t have enough information last week about the Shiloh Bible Church Camp Meeting. This was a camp for students and parents held on June 10th. I understand a fun time was had by all attendees. A little bird told me that our kids showed their competitive spirit at youth camp. We just “gotta' love our Coyotes.
There is one more week for the Convoy of Hope summer food distribution. So far, Mrs. Phelan and helpers have distributed food to 98 children. If you attend school in the area and have not received food, please come by and get some. This is not a charity program; this is a program for all students. There is still a food bank for adults and post school people if you need provisions.
Please mark July 18th on your calendar. This is the distribution of school backpacks, hoodies, shoes, and other supplies for school. Children will have to be present to try on the shoes. If any family is needing a ride to the distribution site, please contact either the First Baptist Church or Shiloh Church. Adults will be available to drive your student to try on shoes if you are at work or cannot take them. You will have to call for a time and place.
The school will not be providing school supplies this year, but donations have been received to help parents and students cover their needed supplies. I think back to my school days when parents supplied the tools for school. We didn’t waste pencil, pens, or even paper, since it was expensive. I hope our students and parents appreciate the donations that save more money for our parents.
Please pray for our glorious country. We have issues, but there is nothing out there to compare with this great nation. I hear of people leaning towards socialism, but tell me where does that work? Please pray for this unique form of government. There are wars and rumors of wars around the world. But God is in control, and we are ready to fight if needed. Thank you, God, for blessing this country. Pray for peace and the end to war, but most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!
