The Richland Springs Report

After a wonderful cruise, reality checks in on my life. I have spent most of today grading the work I left for my students. I suspect I am working harder than they did. I know some didn’t work hard at all. The reason I know that is because there was no work turned in for them. That will make for an ugly three-week progress report. They were warned, but some will still whine and claim foul. I try not to make silly threats, but they were forewarned before I left that there would be no quarter for anyone who left work undone before spring break.

I didn’t see any events posted on the website for school except those for One Act Play. The team will be competing for the bi-district title as soon as we get back, and hopefully, they will advance to the next stage in Stephenville. Good luck, Mrs. Locker and to all the participants.

Congratulations to the following ladies: Ryleigh Bryant

Ryleigh scored a 2500 career point total to become: District 17 MVP, TABC All-Region, TSMCA All Region Lili Kate Appleton

TSMCA All-Region, TABC All-Region, District 17 Newcomer of the Year; District 17 1st Team All-District There was a special event held at the Community Center on Sunday afternoon. Elizabeth Poe organized a free prom clothing giveaway.

Members of the community were welcome to come in and go “shopping.” There was clothing for both males and females.

An upcoming event will be Tuesday, March 26th, from 4-6 p.m. Dee Crump fromAdorabella Designs will show us how to make a spring wreath. I thoroughly enjoyed the bow making class that she and Chrissy held in Shoppe 1910 before Christmas. I am excited about this class. If you want to watch only, there will be a $5.00 fee. If you want to make your own, the cost will be $10.00 plus the cost of materials. I can’t wait to make either a spring or maybe a Mother’s Day wreath. Dee will sent out more details shortly. Let’s pack the room and strut our artistic skills.

Chrissy’s Plants had a soft opening last Wednesday, and business was good. Prices were reasonable, and the plants beautiful and healthy. I understand you can call and see if she can find your favorite plant. It may cost a little more, but it saves you time.

RS BoHo Unique was the subject of vandalism. Jackie’s new sign was removed. If you know who took it and how it can be returned, please let her know. In the meantime, stop and shop for the many treasures Jackie has for sale. Please shop locally if possible. The Coyote Store has some groceries and delicious food items. The Feedlot has great chicken, pizza, and other specialty dishes. People think local stores are more expensive, but that is not true. Skelton’s Hardware has better prices than Home Depot on many items. Save yourself a trip and shop locally.

Please keep the eclipse warnings in mind in the next two weeks. The eye safety warnings are important for healthy eyesight. It would be wise to make sure your staples are covered for the week of April 1-8. We will have more traffic and people; don’t leave yourself unprepared.

I accidentally dug up a rabbit nest in my garden. Fortunately, I did not harm any of the five little babies, but I probably scared them a little. I tried the string across the burrow to see if mom was coming back to feed the little ones. It looks as if the string is being moved, so perhaps they will survive. Clara Elkin offered to take the babies in with her nanny rabbit if mom did not return. I will remember that for future issues. For those of you who are unaware, Clara raises rabbits for sale.

Please pray for the wars in Israel and Ukraine, for our government and our upcoming elections, and for our Congress that is trying to pass a border security bill. We need less infighting and more bipartisan cooperation to keep this country going.

Pray for the people in North Texas who have lost homes and livelihoods due to the huge Smokehouse Creek Fire.

Pray for sickness in the community, those who have lost loved ones, and our first responders.

Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.

Have a wonderful week.
