The Richland Springs Preservation Society held their regular meeting on Tuesday evening July 16th.
Sue Ransom is the new President; Frankie Soto Junior, treasurer; and Chrissy Baker is the Recording Secretary. Dee Crump will be acting as communications director.
At the meeting, they discussed work that needs to be done on the old Richland Springs bank building and how to raise funds. The most immediate needs are five windows upstairs on the west side must be replaced now. However, all the windows eventually need to be replaced. The largest project towards a complete restoration will be replacing the roof.
Frankie had gotten an estimate for the windows last year, and each window will be approximately $500. The preservation society is accepting donations for the windows, and any amount of donation is helpful. If anyone would like to adopt a window, that you can do that for a $500 donation and they will have a marker by the window indicating that they replaced that window.
The Richland Springs Preservation Society is a 501C3 nonprofit organization. Donations of any amount are tax deductible. Checks to the Preservation Society may be mailed to P. O. Box 153, Richland Springs, Texas 76871.
The other item on the agenda was the discussion of creating a museum in the main bank lobby. Donna Hill will be chairman of the Museum Committee. She is accepting photographs and family histories that date back prior to 1970.
The next meeting will be September 10th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Richland Springs Community Center. Anyone is invited to attend.
